Bamboo Cutting Board with Trays and Graters
Prep work generates two problems at once: somewhere to put what you have chopped, and somewhere to put what you are throwing away. This board solves both by running pull-out trays underneath the cutting surface, so peel goes into one and prepared vegetables into another without a single extra bowl leaving the cupboard or landing in the sink.
A set of interchangeable grater plates drops into a recess in the board, turning it into a grating station for cheese, ginger, citrus zest and hard vegetables, then lifts straight out for washing. The bamboo itself is kind to knife edges, harder wearing than softwood, and naturally resistant to absorbing the moisture that warps cheaper boards after a few months of use.
It suits small kitchens especially well, since one object covers chopping, grating, holding and serving, and the trays double as containers for taking prepared food to the table. Wash the board by hand in warm water and dry it upright rather than flat. Keep the grater plates away from young hands, and store them in the board rather than loose in a drawer, where a hand reaching for something else can find a cutting edge unexpectedly. Used carefully it replaces a board, two prep bowls, a waste bowl and a box grater, which is a meaningful saving in a kitchen where cupboard space is the scarce resource. It joins the rest of the Veyra Home cutting board range.
