Three stacked tiers keep a meal in its component parts rather than compressed into one layer, so rice stays dry under a curry, salad stays crisp beside a dressing, and fruit does not arrive tasting of everything else in the box. The tiers lock together under a single strap and travel as one neat column that fits a bag upright.

The body is made from wheat straw fibre, a plant-based material that reuses a by-product of the grain harvest and gives the box a warmer, matte finish than plain plastic. It is light to carry, sturdier than it looks, and free of the shiny gloss that scratches into a dull grey after a term of daily use in a school bag.

Total capacity is nine hundred millilitres, which suits a school lunch, a lighter office meal or a controlled portion. Cutlery is included and clips to the strap. The tiers are microwave safe with lids removed and go on the top rack of a dishwasher; where a child is reheating food, an adult should supervise and check the temperature first, since contents heat unevenly.
