Faux Jute Outdoor Doormat

Natural jute looks wonderful at a front door and lasts about one wet winter. This mat takes the same warm, woven, slightly rustic appearance and builds it from a synthetic fibre instead, which is the whole point: the texture and tone of jute, without the rot, the shedding, or the grey slump that real fibre develops after a season of rain. From standing height the difference is invisible.

The weave is coarse enough to scrub a sole properly and open enough that what comes off falls through rather than sitting on the surface. It sheds water instead of drinking it, so the mat is not still soaked two days after a downpour, and the colour is stabilised against sunlight so a south-facing porch does not bleach it pale within a summer. The backing grips without marking a painted or tiled threshold.

Several sizes are offered, from a single door width up to a longer runner for a wide or double entrance. Shake it out, sweep it, or hose it down when the weather has been unkind, then let it dry before laying it back on timber.
