Modern IP65 Outdoor LED Wall Light

IP65 is the specification that matters on an exterior wall. The first digit says the fitting is sealed against dust; the second says it will take water jetted at it from any direction, which in practice means driving rain, a hose during a wash-down, and the spray thrown up off a path in a storm. Everything else about an outdoor light is preference. This is the part that decides whether it survives.

The form is deliberately plain: a clean rectangular body in a matte finish, with no visible fixings on the face and no decorative bracket. Mounted on a facade it reads as architecture rather than as a lamp bolted to a wall, and a run of them along a boundary or a driveway gives rhythm without clutter. The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp holder to corrode and no bulb to replace.

It suits entrances, garden walls, balconies, carports and passageways, and works as well in a run as it does singly beside a door. Fixings and a gasket seal the back plate against the wall surface. Outdoor mains wiring should be installed by a qualified electrician on a suitably protected circuit, and the seal should be checked if the fitting is ever removed and refitted.
