A globe throws light in every direction at once, which is why it reads as ambient rather than functional. Mounted on a garden wall or a fence post it becomes a soft point of light in the dark rather than a beam pointed at something, and a pair or a run of them defines the edges of a garden after sunset far more pleasantly than a single bright fitting ever manages.

Smart dimming is the part that makes it liveable. Rather than running at full output until the battery is flat, the light steps down through the night, holding a low glow for far longer than a fixed-brightness solar lamp would manage from the same charge. That means it is still lit when people come home late rather than dark by ten o'clock in the evening.

Everything is self-contained: a panel on the fitting charges an internal battery, a sensor handles switching, and installation is fixings only with no cable and no electrician. Mount it where the panel sees genuine daylight, since shade cuts run time sharply and winter output is always lower.
